This Giving Tuesday, Luke’s Wings Invites MileagePlus Members to Donate Miles to Help Support Wounded, Ill and Injured Service Members & Veterans Throughout Recovery and Rehabilitation

MileagePlus members looking to give back this holiday season can donate miles to Luke’s Wings through United Airlines’ Miles on a Mission program

Washington, D.C. – November 30, 2021 – Starting today, MileagePlus® members can help Luke’s Wings raise miles to help support military families through United’s crowdsourcing program, Miles on a MissionSM. The miles raised will be used to provide complimentary airfare to wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans and their loved ones, keeping military families connected during recovery and rehabilitation.

Luke’s Wings is aiming to raise 750,000 miles, which will help support Luke’s Wings broader mission of providing complimentary airfare to wounded, ill and injured service members and their loved ones. United will provide an additional 50,000 bonus miles to Luke’s Wings once the mile raising goal is reached.

“In 2021 Luke’s Wings had a record-breaking year booking more flights than ever before and receiving an unprecedented number of flight requests, said Mary Scott, Luke’s Wings Chief of Staff. “We are on our way to reaching our goal of providing 2,000 flights in 2021 reuniting our heroes with their loved ones during recovery and rehabilitation. With miles donated through this campaign, we hope to reach our goal of providing 500 flights during the holidays for our Nation’s heroes. The miles raised through United’s Miles on a Mission campaign are a vital part of helping Luke’s Wings continue to provide these families with precious and well-deserved time together”

The Miles on a Mission program allows MileagePlus members to donate their miles to a wide variety of non-profits in need of air travel. To date, more than 154 million miles have been donated through the program. Miles on a Mission is a part of United’s Every Action Counts commitment, which aims to connect people, unite the world and serve communities by putting people and planes to work for the greater good.

“This Giving Tuesday marks a special occasion for us to come together to support and uplift those who need it the most this holiday season and beyond,” Suzi Cabo, managing director of global community engagement, United Airlines. “We’re proud to offer our MileagePlus members a meaningful way to use their miles for good and provide critically needed air travel to a variety of non-profits that serve vulnerable communities across the globe.”
