When Sergeant Franz W. (Ret.) returned to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to have his leg amputated after years of trying limb salvage, Luke’s Wings reassured him that we would be there for him and his family during his hospitalization and recovery. The wounds of war can last a lifetime and we want our wounded warriors who are returning to military medical centers for treatment to know they can rely on our support. Franz is on the road to recovery but still remains under physician’s care. Travel can be difficult when you’re still healing, so we provided airfare to his mother to visit him for his first steps with a prosthetic. Their smiling faces say it all – family is everything!
