Support our Nation's Heroes Throughout Recovery
On March 25, 2026, Petty Officer Jhonbert L., a U.S. Navy Sailor, sustained catastrophic injuries while conducting flight operations aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln in support of Operation Epic Fury. During the incident, his left leg became trapped beneath the tire of a jet aircraft being towed across the flight deck. Jhonbert was initially transported to a hospital in Oman before being transferred to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where the severity of his injuries ultimately required a below-the-knee amputation. Once Jhonbert was stabilized, he was medically evacuated to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he continues his recovery and rehabilitation.
Shortly after his arrival at Walter Reed, Luke’s Wings had the honor of flying Jhonbert’s sister to his bedside, ensuring she could be with him during the earliest and most critical stages of his recovery.
While Jhonbert continues to make steady progress, his rehabilitation remains a long and challenging journey. He is now learning to navigate life with a prosthetic limb while participating in intensive rehabilitation at Walter Reed. Jhonbert’s perseverance is a testament to the resilience of our Nation’s wounded warriors and reflects the heart of Luke’s Wings’ mission: ensuring no service member has to face recovery alone.
