Through Luke’s Wings’ No Service Member Spends The Holiday Alone campaign, we were honored to support U.S. Army World War II Veteran Beatrice C. and her family during the 2025 holiday season.

Beatrice is currently receiving hospice care at a VA Medical Center in Virginia. For many years, she resided in Salem County, New Jersey, where she is recognized as the eldest surviving Veteran in the county. At 103 years old, her life and service represent a truly remarkable legacy.

Beatrice joined the United States Army in 1943 and served honorably until 1945 as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps, which became the Women’s Army Corps during her enlistment. During her service, she worked as both a mail clerk and a company clerk, playing an important role in supporting U.S. Army operations during World War II. Her military honors include the Women’s Army Corps Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

Luke’s Wings flew Beatrice’s granddaughter and her twin great-grandchildren to her bedside. Because of this opportunity, four generations of family were reunited for the holidays—Beatrice, her daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren—sharing precious time together.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do—ensuring that our Nation’s Heroes are surrounded by love, family, and gratitude, especially during the holidays.
