FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 2025 – Through its Fallen Officers Transportation Assistance Program (F.O.T.A.P.), Luke’s Wings was honored to provide 15 flights for the family of Officer David Rose, a 33-year-old DeKalb County, Georgia police officer and former U.S. Marine, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on August 8, 2025. These flights allowed his loved ones to come together in Atlanta to attend his memorial services.

Officer Rose was responding to a shooting near Emory University’s Atlanta campus, across from the CDC headquarters, when he tragically lost his life while serving his community. He is survived by his wife and two young children. The couple was preparing to welcome their third child at the time of his passing.

“In the wake of this unimaginable tragedy, Luke’s Wings quickly mobilized to ensure that Officer Rose’s loved ones could be together to honor his life while supporting one another during a time of profound loss,” said Mackenzie Kiesel, Family and Communications Logistics Coordinator at Luke’s Wings. “At Luke’s Wings, we are honored to support families like Officer Rose’s during their most difficult moments. His legacy reminds us why our mission matters—and why we will continue to stand beside those who serve and sacrifice.”

Luke’s Wings created the Fallen Officers Transportation Assistance Program (F.O.T.A.P.) to provide emergency travel coordination and complimentary airfare to the families and loved ones of law enforcement officers, immediately following a catastrophic injury or death while serving in the line of duty.
