JAN SCRUGGS, FOUNDER OF THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL, SUPPORTS MILITARY NONPROFIT LUKE’S WINGS

(November 4, 2021 – WASHINGTON, D.C.) Jan Scruggs, founder of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is proud to present Luke’s Wings with a $1,000 donation on Veterans Day to kick off the organization’s annual “No Soldier Spends Christmas Alone” campaign. The campaign began in 2011 and has raised more than $2.5 million to reunite service members and veterans with their loved ones during the holidays.

Luke’s Wings is launching this year’s campaign on November 11, 2021, at Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company in Arlington, VA from 11AM – 3PM. This year, Luke’s Wings goal is to reunite over 500 heroes throughout the course of the campaign. The organization believes that every wounded warrior should spend the holidays with their loved ones. Therefore, it vows to connect them throughout the year, particularly during the holiday season. Scruggs will be attending the launch event and his generosity will help ensure our Nations heroes are together with their families during the holidays.

“It is an honor to help this important endeavor which reaches out to our warriors and their families who need help after the injury of a person on active duty with our Armed Forces,” said Jan Scruggs, founder of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. “I encourage others to donate generously to help those who sacrifice to protect our freedom and their families.”

Luke’s Wings was founded in 2008 after learning that the government does not always provide flights for family or loved ones to be bedside after a service member is injured. This is where Luke’s Wings steps in to fill the gap for the months and years ahead. Over the past 13 years, the organization has provided over 13,000 flights to reunite wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans and their loved ones during recovery and rehabilitation. The campaign runs from Veterans Day, November 11th through January 1st and donations can be made at give.lukeswings.org. For a $50 donation, the donor will receive an exclusive Luke’s Wings 2021 Christmas ornament, for a donation of $350, the ornament will be accompanied with a card that indicates the ornament sent a soldier home for the holidays. Jan’s generous donation will ensure that three soldiers are reunited with their families this Christmas!
