Jay Scruggs is an architect and a Principal at HGA Architects and Engineers, an 800-person national A/E firm with offices locally in Washington, DC, and Alexandria, VA. Jay is both the Director and the Public/Corporate Practice Group Leader for the DC and VA offices, responsible for the financial and cultural health of the Mid-Atlantic region. He has also served on his firm’s Planning Committee, responsible for strategic growth of the firm and mergers and acquisitions. Jay has more than 28 years of planning, design, and project management experience, leading clients in projects both locally and nationally, with a concentration in government, corporate, tenant interiors, mixed-use, and repositioning projects. He has particular expertise in security, sustainability, design-build, and large-scale complex projects.

In addition to serving on the Advisory Board for Luke’s Wings, Jay serves as a Director for the American Institute of Architecture’s Northern Virginia Chapter, and co-chairs the organization’s Community Service committee. As the Director of HGA’s DC and VA offices, Jay oversees and is an active participant in HGA’s Equity and Community Service task forces, helping to lead office equity conversations and efforts in support the firm’s ongoing commitment to “be a company and culture where everyone—employees and clients—can together do the best work of their lives.”
