Jason Sickels is Media Solutions Specialist at Defense News. He is also a volunteer member with Luke’s Wings assisting with development opportunities, media contacts and strategic military introductions. Jason has been an active support of Luke’s Wings since 2008 and was a volunteer for three year before being invited to the Board. Jason helps with marketing, networking, and fundraising for Luke’s Wings.
Jason started his career with Mobil Oil Corporation in Fairfax, VA and was selected to join the Executive Training Program with Downstream Fuels Marketing. Jason was a team member for technology and innovation with the roll out of Speedpass and On the Run convenience brand. After the ExxonMobil merger Jason was relocated to Southern California to serve as Sales and Business Consultant and Territory Manager. In 2002 Jason left ExxonMobil to pursue technology solutions to help the Post Secondary Education Industry and started Merced Solutions. Top School, Merced’s flagship product, was a web based CRM and compliance tool that met requirements with Department of Education and FAFSA. In 2005 Jason joined Independent Book Buying Services, a textbook procurement and logistics consulting company, and grew sales, geographic reach of the company, and added new revenue streams. By the end of 2008 Jason had taken IBBS from a garage business to a thriving company the served the K-12 education industry with a 65% market share of LA and offices in VA, FL and TX. Jason returned home to the Washington DC area at the end of 2008 to take the position of Vice President with Formula Sports and Entertainment Group. At FS&E, Jason focused the company in strategic military marketing with projects such as the National Memorial Day Parade, Armed Forces Football with CBS College Sports and many other projects that directly benefit military charities.
Today, he has found his home at Defense News at the Media Solutions Specialist. Jason Graduated from the University of Virginia and has been very active with the Alumni Association in both CA and VA.
