Through our Fallen Officers Transportation Assistance Program (F.O.T.A.P.), Luke’s Wings was honored to provide flights for the family of Officer Austin A., a 30-year-old Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer and U.S. Marine Veteran who was killed in the line of duty on August 4, 2026. These flights allowed his loved ones to gather in Las Vegas for his memorial service before traveling to his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina, where he was laid to rest. Luke’s Wings was especially grateful to arrange for Officer Austin A.’s wife and siblings to travel on the same Delta flight that carried him home to South Carolina, allowing them to accompany him on his final journey.

Officer Austin A. made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting his community after responding to reports of an armed man behaving erratically. Upon arriving at the scene, he was ambushed and shot multiple times as he exited his patrol vehicle. Officer Austin A. is survived by his wife, his parents, and three siblings.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Luke’s Wings was able to ensure Officer Austin A.’s family could be together to honor his memory and find comfort in one another during an unimaginable time of loss.

Following the services, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s family liaison shared with our team that Officer Austin A.’s family was “extremely grateful” for the support provided by Luke’s Wings. Stories like this reflect the heart of our mission: ensuring families can be together when they need each other most.
