In this video, 2019 Heroes Gala Wounded Warrior TAP Honoree, Retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Lucas Cifka, and his wife Kait share their journey from Lucas’ deployment, and surviving an IED blast that led to the amputation of both legs, to navigating recovery with the help of Luke’s Wings.

Our organization, Luke’s Wings, provides free flights to wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, fallen officers, and their families. For the Cifkas, this meant being reunited during critical moments, whether it was being there for holidays, recovery milestones, or simply finding healing in togetherness.
