As a former Luke’s Wings beneficiary family member, Melissa is ecstatic to now be part of the Luke’s Wings Team. As the Families, Logistics and Communications Programs Coordinator, Melissa cultivates and maintains relationships with each beneficiary family, assessing and addressing their needs within the Luke’s Wings Travel Assistance Programs (TAP).  She truly enjoys helping our beneficiary families with arranging flights, sharing resources, and offering a friendly ear. Additionally, Melissa is involved in outreach within the Military, Veteran and Caregiver communities, attending Health Fairs and Volunteering when able to within these groups.

Ten years ago Melissa became her husband’s full-time caregiver, forcing her to end her career as a nurse. Soon thereafter she jumped into Caregiver and Wounded Warrior / Veteran advocacy. She not only co-founded a Caregiver support group, but became an Elizabeth Dole Foundation Fellow, spoke on Capitol Hill regarding Caregiver needs, and led an Operation Homefront Hearts of Valor Caregiver support group for more two years.
